You know the line about "people speaking in strange tongues?" Yep, that's me.

But of course, the movie is never absorbed in complete viewings. We always catch it mid-way or have to run an errand before the end scene and normally, we have to suffer through constant commercial interruptions and the typical television scene cuts to the film.
Not cool.
So, I will be finally putting an end to the mayhem this Christmas season by gifting my husband a copy of "A Christmas Story." My hope is that if we have the movie on hand, he'll be less tempted to constantly try to catch it on tv. Then, when we do settle in to watch it, at least it will be in its adorable entirety. (Yes, I am remiss to admit that I actually have developed an affection for the film, too.)
My next task was to get a companion gift... and I'm so not going to buy the tacky lamp! Nope, sorry, not having any of it. Rural hubby already tried to convince me to go that route when we saw one for sale at a novelty shop. I am a nerd at heart, but there are some times I must draw the geek line.
In my position what would you do? Well, naturally, you'd want an Official Daisy Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle! (Or a deranged Easter Bunny costume, but I thought the BB Gun would get more use.)

Where to find the coveted Daisy Red Ryder? For me, Tractor Supply was the obvious first choice, so I headed there and found it straight away.
Along with picking up some feed for my animals and the Daisy Red Ryder, I found accessories goodies to complete my gift selection. (You can see the rest of the details from my shopping excursion HERE)

Wrapped and ready, the BB Gun is now stashed away in a secret hiding spot awaiting my hubby's reaction (which is certain to be a happy one!)
And my boys will be happy, too. They will no doubt challenge hubs to a competitive target shoot (likely not to be overly fair as their BB Guns have scopes but that's not really the point, now, is it?) Along that line, that's a secondary reason I wanted to purchase the Daisy Red Ryder for my husband, so that he wouldn't have to keep trading BB Guns back and forth when he practices with them.

If you've gotten this far in my Christmas story shopping tale, I'm guessing you'd likely love to win a Daisy Red Ryder to gift... but we're not there yet, because I want to be certain to interject a super important word about safety:
Living in rural Kentucky, hunting and sportsman programs are a prevalent part of our culture, but living here (or even growing up here) doesn't guarantee that a person is well-versed or trained in proper gun handling and safety.
Folks, whether Ralphie liked it or not, his mother had a point to the extent that BB Gun safety and safe handling practices are of the utmost importance. The recipient of a BB Gun should be at least 10-years-old or older.
BB gun safety is extremely important. BB guns are not toys and the same gun safety rules must be followed when using BB guns as when using any other type of gun. Even if you think you have gun safety down pat, I encourage you to read the Safety Rules on the Daisy website http://www.daisy.com/safetyrules, to visit the The National Rifle Association website http://www.nrahq.org to read about BB Gun safety rules, and to check with your local law enforcement agency to learn more about your state laws and BB Gun safety practices.
