
Turns out, I was missing out on a whole new level of slower cooker enjoyment...
When I opened my review copy of the Slow Cooker Desserts cookbook I was amazed to find that many of the desserts we love can be cooked in the crockpot. I'd never thought to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars (one of my son's favorites) nor Bananas Foster (one of my favorites) in our slow cooker, but sure enough- you can!
What a time and energy saver this will be, not to mention how convenient for holiday cooking. Rather than having to bake ahead of the main course due to lack of oven space or temperature variance, I can simply cook the dessert simultaneously.
I can also envision slow cooker dessert cooking to be a blessing in the summer, when I'm less receptive to turning on a hot oven. How wonderful it will be to have a Berry Cobbler al a mode without having to sweat in the kitchen to create it.
Slow Cooker Desserts contains full color, gorgeous photos and recipes for fruit desserts, puddings, brownies, cakes, cheese cakes, and even one for traditional flan. All are easy to prepare with readily available ingredients. Included is a section of "Emergency Desserts," too, that can be whipped up in a pinch with basic items you'll likely have on hand.
Overall, Slow Cooker Desserts: Hot, Easy and Delicious Custards, Cobblers, Souffles, Pies, Cakes and More is a definite keeper for the Rural Mom Kitchen!
