| The moment you know you're going to get UNREAL! |
While I certainly have fond memories from my childhood of doing exactly the same as my children do, as a mom, I certainly have developed a different point of view. Now, I worry about what's in the candy, how many pieces I should allow them to have, and what on earth I'm going to do with all the excess (because I limited what they intake, we wind up having Halloween candy leftovers straight through 'till Easter.)
Discovering UNREAL candies may not change my mind about how much candy I let my little guys have, but it certainly makes a difference in how much I worry about what they are ingesting when they do indulge.
UNREAL Candies have no corn syrup, no artificial preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors, no hydrogenated oils or fats, and in my opinion, a fresher, more satisfying taste. Likely because UNREAL uses real cane sugar, twice the cacao as other leading brands, and real milk.
In fact, my favorite feature of UNREAL candies is the ability to recognize every ingredients on the label - there's no deciphering of complicated chemical names or "mystery" ingredients like "natural flavoring." I also like the lower sugar counts (according to the manufacturer, UNREAL Peanut Butter Cups comes in the lowest at 11 grams and the UNREAL Candy Coated Chocolates have 19.)

Regardless of what I think, though, the real test is passing the child seal of approval because as we moms know, if they don't like it, it's likely not going to take up residency in their preferred dietary selections. I didn't have to reason to worry, exclamations of "this is awesome!" and questions of "can I have some more?" quickly followed the first taste.
Next up was my Rural Hubby, another hard to please customer when it comes to food choices. He has a standard favorite candy bar that he rarely deviates from. The UNREAL Chocolate Peanut Caramel Nougat Bar was a perfect substitute for hims to try.
The verdict? He first asked me if they were expensive. The answer is "no," UNREAL has aimed to keep the price of their candy bars comparable to the average cost of what you'd expect to pay for a standard candy bar at the grocer. So, hubs then asked me to pick him up some more the next time I went shopping a.k.a. a win in the taste category!
Our next step is to unjunk our neighbor's Halloweens. We're taking our UNREAL party to the rural roads! The boys and I have decided to purchase and paint pumpkins to deliver along with goody bags of UNREAL candies. Sort of trick-or-treating in reverse. (UNREAL via Resourceful Mommy Media has been kind enough to send us enough candy to share and gift bags, too.)
